Keeshond

The Keeshond is a previous dog breed, once a companion and watchdog on the barges and boats that traveled the canals and rivers of Holland within the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He’s nearly completely a companion dog today. He’s a people-lover; willing to participate altogether family activities, he thrives with people that expect this of their dog. He’s spirited, alert, and intelligent qualities that won him status as the most beloved dog in Holland.

The Keeshond (pronounced KAYZ-hawnd) is a medium-sized dog with a formidable gray, black, and cream coat and a huge, plumed tail. He was best-known for years because the “Dutch Barge Dog” due to his role as companion and guardian on barges and tiny boats on Holland’s several canals and rivers.

While the Keeshond can issue a stern bark when somebody approaches his property, he is such a love that he’ll readily settle for anyone his owner brings into the family. In truth, he isn’t a really effective watchdog.

The keeshond could be a fan of cool weather. He likes disbursement time outside once the weather is crisp. However, he isn’t a backyard dog; he’s too people-oriented for that. He must live within with his family and participate in all their activities.
